Reported context and background

• The title was first released in November 2024 and received an “Strong” rating on OpenCritic (average score 82, 86 % recommendation).
• This marks the second time the game has been offered for free on EGS; the first instance was a 24‑hour giveaway that ran through 22 December 2025.
• Unlike the previous short‑term giveaway, the October promotion will remain available for a full week, a format not used for this title before.
• The announcement also notes that the last single‑product giveaway before this was “Alone With You” in early September 2026.
• Other horror‑themed titles currently free on the store (as of the article’s date) include Sker Ritual and Home, both available until 29 October 2026.
• A non‑horror game, GetHigh.EXE, is also free but its discount ends on 2 November 2026 and is unrelated to the weekly giveaway.

Practical implications for gamers

• No hidden fees: Because the game is a digital download, there are no shipping or handling costs.
• Account requirement: Players must have an Epic Games account; creating one is free.
• One‑time claim: Once claimed, the game is added permanently to the user’s library, even after the promotion ends.
• No auto‑renewal or subscription: The offer does not involve a trial period, subscription, or automatic charge.
• How to verify: Visit the official Epic Games Store website (https://www.epicgames.com/store) and look for the October 2026 free‑games banner or the specific game page for *Sorry We’re Closed*. The page will display a “Get” button and the claim deadline.

Unknowns / unconfirmed aspects

• The source does not specify whether Epic will add any additional surprise freebies on 31 October 2026 (Halloween).
• No official redemption URL is provided in the source; users must locate the offer through the store’s homepage or free‑games section.
• The article mentions a “possibility of a surprise freebie” but does not confirm any such plan.

What to watch for next

• After 5 November 2026, the store is expected to return to a broader mix of limited‑time freebies, as indicated by the source.
• Players interested in the horror theme may also want to claim Sker Ritual and Home before their 29 October deadline.
