Samsung Galaxy Z Fold9 Rumored to Bring Back Under-Display Camera

Rumored Return of the Under-Display Camera

According to recent reports circulating online, Samsung is allegedly planning to reintroduce an under-display camera for its next-generation foldable device, tentatively referred to in reports as the Galaxy Z Fold9. Samsung previously utilized under-display camera technology on the inner screens of its book-style foldables across four generations, starting with the Galaxy Z Fold3 in 2021 through the Galaxy Z Fold6. However, subsequent models such as the Galaxy Z Fold7 and the Galaxy Z Fold8 series shifted to a standard punch-hole camera design.

Unconfirmed Leak Details

• Source: Information originates from a single tipster posting on the social media platform X.
• Reported Features: The device is rumored to feature an under-display camera alongside major internal changes while maintaining a design and overall thickness similar to previous iterations.
• Thickness Claims: The tipster previously suggested target measurements of 3.9mm unfolded and 7.9mm folded, though analysts note these figures remain unverified and potentially inconsistent with current hardware dimensions.

Verification and Conflicting Data

Independent observers emphasize that these details should be treated with caution. The reported thickness of 7.9mm folded contrasts sharply with the wide Galaxy Z Fold8, which measures 9.7mm folded and 4.5mm unfolded. Industry commentators suggest the figures may represent early engineering targets that could change, or could potentially apply to a theoretical Ultra variant rather than a standard model.

Current Status

At present, official confirmation from Samsung regarding the Galaxy Z Fold9, its specifications, pricing, software support, or launch timelines is not available. Consumers and interested buyers are advised to check Samsung's official website for verified product announcements.
