Robin Uthappa Aims to Bring Mumbai Indians' Intimidation Factor to All IPL Venues

New Coaching Staff Prepares for the Upcoming IPL Season

Mumbai Indians are preparing for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season under new leadership within the coaching staff. Following a ninth-place finish in the 2025 campaign and a bottom-place finish two seasons prior, the franchise is looking to rebuild its competitive edge.

Former India batter Robin Uthappa has joined the support staff as the new batting coach. In addition to this change in the batting department, franchise great Kieron Pollard has taken over the head coaching responsibility, succeeding Mahela Jayawardene.

Shifting Focus Beyond Home Conditions

While Mumbai Indians have traditionally enjoyed strong support and success at their home ground, the Wankhede Stadium, new batting coach Robin Uthappa has emphasized the need to replicate that dominance on the road.

Speaking in an interview on the franchise's official YouTube channel, Uthappa stated that the team wants to ensure opponents feel the same level of pressure during away fixtures as they do when playing in Mumbai.

• Home vs. Away Performance: Translating strong home form into consistent away performances.
• Rebuilding Fan Trust: Acknowledging that the team enters the upcoming period as underdogs and aims to earn back supporter confidence.
• Strategic Goal: Instilling the same intensity and competitive energy across all tournament venues.
