Kojima Productions Announces Death Stranding: Isolations Anime Series for 2027

Expanding the Death Stranding Universe

The announcement, released via official social media channels, confirms that the series is scheduled to debut exclusively on Disney+ in 2027.

First Look and Creative Direction

A brief teaser trailer has been released to accompany the announcement. The footage introduces a young protagonist experiencing recurring, unsettling dreams involving tar, accompanied by the haunting tagline: "My mom became a crater." Kojima Productions notes that the series will feature a unique ensemble of characters, implying that the narrative will likely branch away from the core cast of the original games.

Key creative personnel include:

• Director: Takayuki Sano, known for his work on *Attack on Titan* and *Jujutsu Kaisen*.
• Screenplay/Composition: Tow Ubukata, a science-fiction writer recognized for his contributions to the *Psycho-Pass* series and *Ghost in the Shell: The New Movie*.
• Animation Studio: E&H production, the studio behind *Ninja Kamui* and the upcoming *Magic Knight Rayearth* reboot.

Industry Context

This project marks a significant expansion for Kojima Productions as it moves into episodic animation. The studio has recently been active in several high-profile collaborations, including the upcoming horror title *OD* (developed with Jordan Peele) and the newly announced espionage project, *Physint*.
