Karan Johar Opens Up About Past Fallouts with Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor on Talk Show

Inside the Talk Show Revelations

Filmmaker Karan Johar recently opened up about past disagreements that strained his relationships with actors Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor. Appearing on an episode of 'Koffee With Karan' Season 9 alongside Janhvi, Johar discussed the underlying tensions that led to a temporary freeze in communication with both stars.

The conversation shed light on the personal and professional dynamics within the film industry, detailing how scheduling clashes and professional decisions can impact long-standing industry relationships.

The Release Date Clash with Varun Dhawan

The friction between Johar and Varun Dhawan stemmed from a scheduling conflict involving competing film release dates. Johar explained that he felt hurt when Varun's project was scheduled to arrive in theaters on the same date as his own film.

While Varun maintained that he had previously informed Johar about the possibility of targeting that release window, Johar noted that a tentative warning did not constitute a finalized schedule. Amid difficulties in securing theatrical release slots, Johar proceeded with his date and subsequently stopped responding to calls and messages.

Tensions escalated further when Varun sent a message telling the filmmaker to "stop acting like a child." Johar admitted that the remark crossed a personal boundary, explaining that such phrasing disregarded the respect he expected in their relationship.

Janhvi Kapoor's Professional Split and Reconciliation

Janhvi Kapoor's disagreement with Johar originated from a different circumstance: the actress's decision to leave his talent management agency. Both described the ensuing period as emotionally difficult, comparing the fallout to a breakup.

Janhvi shared that the estrangement took an emotional and physical toll on her before they eventually reconciled. According to Varun, who playfully claimed credit for helping mend fences, a turning point arrived around Johar's birthday celebration, where he believed seeing Janhvi would soften the filmmaker's stance. Upon meeting at the event, the two cleared the air.
